Founding Data Platform Engineer | London | Python, TypeScript, SQL & AI | Competitive Salary

We're partnering with a private, entrepreneurial investment group with a multi-billion-pound real estate portfolio and private credit business. They're making a significant investment in technology and are looking for a Founding Data Platform Engineer to build the platform that will connect data across property management, asset management, accounting and investment operations.

This is an opportunity to build rather than inherit. You'll identify the organisation's highest-value problems and turn them into a technical roadmap, design the core data architecture and single source of truth, and build the pipelines, APIs and integrations connecting complex financial and operational systems. You'll also automate internal workflows and develop dashboards, alerts and applications used directly by the business.

You'll work across Python, TypeScript, SQL, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, ETL/ELT and cloud infrastructure, alongside production LLM pipelines for extraction, retrieval, tool use and workflow automation. You'll have freedom to make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions and establish standards around testing, deployment, monitoring, security and documentation.

We're looking for an experienced engineer who has built reliable data platforms, integrations or backend systems used for real business-critical decisions. You don't need to come from real estate: FinTech, accounting technology, asset management, private investment or other data-intensive environments are highly relevant. Early-stage/startup experience and taking platforms from prototype to production are particularly interesting.

You'll be joining at the beginning of the engineering journey, with the opportunity to shape architecture, engineering standards and culture while potentially mentoring a Junior Data Engineer as the function grows. For someone who enjoys ownership, messy real-world data and building systems directly with end users, this offers unusually broad influence.
